Plaid is the data network that powers the connections between financial accounts and fintech applications. Zentry uses Plaid under the hood to enable secure bank account linking, balance verification, and transaction import — giving employees and finance teams a real-time view of actual spend against tracked expenses.
Employees link their corporate or personal cards through Plaid's trusted authentication flow, and transactions automatically populate in Zentry without manual receipt uploads for bank-imported purchases.
For businesses managing cash accounts, Plaid-powered balance monitoring triggers low-balance alerts in Zentry, preventing disruptions to ongoing operations from cash flow gaps.
Plaid is embedded within Zentry and does not require a separate Plaid account for most use cases. Advanced configurations (custom institution coverage, extended transaction history) require a Plaid API key obtained directly from Plaid.
Employees must consent to bank account linking through the Plaid Link interface when setting up their expense account. This consent is governed by Plaid's end-user privacy policy.
For standard bank linking, employees navigate to Zentry → Payment Methods → Add Bank Account. The Plaid Link UI guides them through institution selection and authentication without any admin setup required.
For custom Plaid configurations, contact Zentry enterprise support to configure your Plaid API credentials and customize the institution list or transaction history depth available to your employees.
